Laser vision correction works by precisely reshaping the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye), improving how light is focused and restoring sharper vision.

Laser Vision Correction
at Sana

Laser eye surgery is a life-changing treatment designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses. It corrects common vision problems such as: Short-sightedness (Myopia), Long-sightedness (Hyperopia), Astigmatism – where the front of the eye is curved more like a rugby ball than a football, affecting focus.

  • Most patients notice a significant improvement in their vision within 24 to 48 hours after LASIK surgery. While it can take a few weeks for your vision to fully stabilise, the initial recovery is quick and typically free from discomfort. Many people are able to return to work and normal daily activities within 1–2 days. Our team will guide you through a tailored aftercare plan to ensure the smoothest possible recovery.

LASIK (Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis)

At Sana, we offer two advanced techniques, one of these being LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis): A small flap is created in the cornea, allowing the underlying tissue to be reshaped with a laser. The flap is then repositioned, helping to speed up recovery and comfort.

  • While both PRK and LASIK reshape the cornea to improve vision, PRK does not involve creating a flap in the cornea. Instead, the surface layer is gently removed before applying the laser. This makes PRK a great option for patients with thinner corneas or those unsuitable for LASIK. The visual outcomes are equally effective - the main difference is the recovery time.

  • PRK has a slightly longer recovery time than LASIK. Most patients experience blurred vision and light sensitivity for the first few days, with functional vision returning in about 1 week. Full visual clarity can take several weeks to a month to stabilise. You'll be given protective lenses and personalised aftercare to support a smooth recovery.

PRK
(Photorefractive Keratectomy)

The other option is PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) Used when LASIK isn’t suitable, this technique reshapes the cornea without creating a flap. Recovery may take a little longer, but long-term results are equally effective. Both procedures are safe, highly effective, and performed using cutting-edge technology by our expert clinical team.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most people with stable prescriptions for short-sightedness, long-sightedness, or astigmatism are suitable for laser vision correction. A full consultation with our specialist team will assess your eye health, corneal thickness, and lifestyle to determine which procedure is right for you.

  • Yes - laser eye surgery permanently reshapes the cornea to improve how light is focused onto the retina. However, your eyes can naturally change over time due to ageing, which may lead to the need for reading glasses or further treatment later in life.

  • Laser vision correction is virtually painless. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic eye drops, so you won’t feel discomfort during treatment. Some patients report mild irritation or sensitivity in the hours afterwards, but this typically settles quickly.
