Luke Anderson

Cataract and Glaucoma Surgeon

Mr Anderson is a director of Sana, a cataract and glaucoma specialist and was clinical lead for Ophthalmology at Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Having qualified from Leicester University in 2002, Mr Anderson worked in Australia before undertaking ophthalmic higher surgical training in Hampshire, and then Wales. He then completed his cataract and glaucoma surgical training at the University Hospital of Wales, becoming the glaucoma lead for the Cwm Taf University Health board before joining Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Mr Anderson held several training positions at the esteemed Royal College of Ophthalmologists, including serving on the Ophthalmic Training Group, the Curriculum Subcommittee and the Steering Group for the college’s e-portfolio. He was a founding member of the College’s Surgical Simulation Group.

Mr Anderson is now chair of both the Task and Finish Group for reviewing the National Pathway for Glaucoma in Wales, and the chair of the Ophthalmic IT Committee for Swansea Bay.

His work has been published in peer review journals, and he has published several clinical apps on the Apple iStore, including a neuro-ophthalmic simulator. He has had patents granted in the field of digital assessment of vision in Europe, Japan and the U.S.
